- What is Bidprobe?
- Bidprobe is a software service (SaaS) that performs an AI-powered, senior-estimator-style review of construction bid packages for electrical contractors. A contractor uploads the tender documents — drawings, specifications, their estimate, bid form, vendor and subcontractor quotes — and Bidprobe returns a written review: scope gaps, code-basis questions, suggested RFIs, recommended bid qualifications, potential-loss ranges, and a bid / no-bid position, with a downloadable PDF report. It is made for the United States and Canada and is available at bidprobe.com.
- Who is Bidprobe for?
- Bidprobe is built for electrical subcontractors bidding commercial, institutional, and industrial work — especially owner-operators and small to mid-size shops that do not employ a dedicated senior estimator to check bids before they go out. It covers Division 26 (electrical) and the related Division 27 (communications) and Division 28 (fire alarm and electronic safety) scope.
- Is Bidprobe estimating or takeoff software?
- No. Bidprobe does not do quantity takeoff and does not produce prices. It reviews a bid package and the estimate the contractor has already built — in Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Excel, or anything else — and reports what a senior estimator would question before submission. It is a review layer that works alongside existing estimating tools, not a replacement for them.
- Does Bidprobe replace the estimator?
- No. Bidprobe provides advisory estimating review only. The contractor remains responsible for final quantities, pricing, code compliance, and submission decisions. The product is positioned as the second set of experienced eyes that small shops usually don't have time for before bid day.
- What does a Bidprobe review include?
- A Bidprobe review includes: scope-gap findings with supporting evidence from the documents and potential-loss ranges; code-basis flags (which code edition the documents enforce and what to verify with the authority having jurisdiction); a ready-to-send RFI package; recommended bid qualifications and exclusions; a document-completeness score; a bid / no-bid position; and a downloadable PDF report.
- How much does Bidprobe cost?
- Bidprobe has two subscription plans, both running the identical review. Solo is US$129 per month (CA$179 in Canada) and covers up to 8 projects per month with 3 re-reviews per project. Core is US$299 per month (CA$419) and covers up to 25 projects per month with 10 re-reviews per project. Prices are plus applicable taxes. The first review is free and requires no credit card, and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from the dashboard with no contracts or cancellation fees.
- How does a Bidprobe review work?
- Three steps: upload the tender package (PDF drawings, specs, and bid forms, plus Excel/CSV estimates and Word or text documents — up to 40 files per package); Bidprobe reads the package end to end and checks it against scope, code basis, and carried labour; the finished review arrives in the dashboard with an email notification, typically in 5 to 15 minutes.
- Does Bidprobe cover both US and Canadian electrical codes?
- Yes. Bidprobe handles projects under the NEC (United States) and the CEC (Canada). It identifies the project's jurisdiction, flags which code edition the documents actually enforce, and recommends verifying the enforced edition with the authority having jurisdiction rather than assuming the latest edition applies.
- What happens when an addendum is issued?
- Re-reviews are included in every Bidprobe plan. When an addendum drops, the contractor uploads it and Bidprobe re-reviews the package against it — what changed, what it touches, and which RFIs are still worth sending — at no extra cost within the plan's re-review allowance.
- Is bid data confidential on Bidprobe?
- Yes. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, reviews are visible only to the account that created them, and projects or the whole account can be deleted at any time. Bidprobe's AI providers do not train their models on customer data.
- Who makes Bidprobe?
- Bidprobe is operated by 3314602 Nova Scotia Limited, doing business as Bidprobe Estimating, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was built by a Red Seal electrician and working electrical estimator, and launched in September 2026. Support is answered by the founder at support@bidprobe.com, and service status is published at bidprobe.instatus.com.
- Does Bidprobe offer a free trial?
- The first review is free on every new account, with no credit card required — upload a real tender package and receive the complete review. There is also a founding offer while it lasts: the first 10 companies to subscribe get 25% off any plan for their first 3 months with the code FOUNDING25.
